My Product + Script Ideas

The product I have decided to create for my radio advert is a new tour for the band Blur that will be named “Blur’s Charmless Tour 2020”. The advert for the product will be aimed at British adults and possibly young adults, particularly in their 20s-30s as they would’ve most likely grown up with Blur’s music and be more familiar with it than younger people. The ticket prices of the tour will be £90 for standing and £60 for seated, being more on the expensive side than other concerts because Blur haven’t toured for a few years and are such a big band that the target audience would be prepared to pay the price to see them. The unique selling point for my product also links to the fact that they are such a big band and will deliver a very unique performance for their fans obviously different to other bands. The budget for the radio advert is £0.

1st Script ideas

Title: Blur's Charmless Tour 2020

One male narrator who enthusiastically informs the listener about the details of the upcoming tour while a montage of Blur’s previous live performances plays in the background. My two scripts differ as one will be narrated by someone with a very stereotypical narrator accent that sounds very standard english, and the other will be narrated by someone with more of a Londoner/cockney accent.

Script

(Sound Bed of Blur play live through whole duration)

MVO: It’s the tour you’ve all been waiting for! Join Damon, Graham, Alex and David on the Blur Charmless Tour 2020! Hear all the classics live such as Charmless Man, Girls and Boys and Parklife. Tickets go on sale on the 28th of July at 6pm Britsh standard time! Visit www.blurcharmlesstour.com for more information and to book your tickets soon!

Timing: 20 seconds

2nd Script ideas

Title of Advert: Blur's Charmless Tour 2020

Two British men discussing the upcoming tour in a friendly, conversational way the also informs the listner about some of the details. My first script idea will be set in a park and have the first speaker mention the tour straight away, and in the other the two men will be sat in a car and a Blur song will start playing on the car radio. These two scripts will be more on the comedic and fun side compared to the first idea which is more formal in tone.

Script 1

(Sound Bed playing e.g. birds tweeting to indicate the setting is outside)

MV1: Hey mate, you heard about the Blur 2020 tour?

MV2: Blur? Oh! Aren’t they the ones that sing “Girls who are boys who like boys-“

MV1 + 2: (singing together) “To be girls”.

MV1: Yeah that’s the one, we should go! It would be great to see such an iconic band play live!

MV2: I’d love to! How much are tickets?

MV1: I’m not sure, get your phone and have a look on www.blurcharmlesstour.com, that should tell you.

MV2: Alright.... Ah,  here you are.... £90 for standing and £60 to sit. That’s pretty decent!

MV1: Wow, that is a good price, we should definitely buy tickets once they’re selling. When do they go on sale by the way?

MV2: According to the website they go on sale on the 28th of July at 6pm British Standar Time.

MV1: Nice one, I can't wait!

(2 seconds pause)

MV2: (hums “Girls and Boys” to himself for the few ending seconds)

Timing: 45 seconds

Script 2

(Sound bed linked to cars and traffic plays e.g. car horns)

MV1: This traffic is ridiculous!

(“Girls and Boys” by Blur starts playing on the radio)

MV2: Aw mate, this is a tune!

MV1: I know right! Blur are going on tour in 2020.

MV2: Ooh Really? We should go! We’d have a well good time!

MV1: Hey, have a look on their website, it’s www.blurcharmlesstour.com, that should give us some details.

MV2: Okay, hang on... Here we go... It says here tickets are £90 to stand, £60 to sit, and tickets go on sale July 28th at 6pm British Standard Time. That’s a great price!

MV1: Definitley! Let’s get some when they go on sale... (suddenly honking his car horn) Oi! Watch  it, Mate! This car wasn’t cheap!

Timing: 30 seconds
